Daring Envisionaries

I think I've done a few things this week that were noteworthy. I created a layout for the magazine I work for that I was pretty proud of, I worked on creating a photo gallery for one of my freelance clients, but by far the most inspired and beautiful piece of work I've created this week was the logo for my girlfriend's riding team which she decided to call Daring Envisionaries.

This riding team will be for an event called 24 Hours of Booty. It is a 24 hour bike ride that is held in a few places across the country (she and the team will be participating in the one in Columbia, Maryland), and it is the official fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation. This ride is something that she has done for a number of years now. Being a breast cancer survivor herself and having been affected by cancer in numerous ways, this is a very important fundraiser for her. It is something she looks forward to participating in each year, and so it was very important for me to come up with something inspiring.

Here is the logo along with screenshots of what the jerseys will look like.

Soft Launch

Well everyone, after working on this redesign of my personal portfolio website for months, I think I'm finally ready for a soft launch. Check it out if you'd like, and should you have any comments, please feel free to use the Contact Me section of the site to leave feedback. It's very welcome!

Below is a bit of a preview.

The Important Things in Life

The most beautiful thing I experienced this week was the wedding that I was paid to shoot on Friday night. Now granted, the people getting married are also friends of mine, so I think that probably added to the joy and beauty of it, but all the same it reminded me of how important family is. And by family I don't necessarily mean those you are related to by blood.

Family can be so many things, but ultimately they are the people you hold closest to your hearts. They are for me, anyway. And so here are three pictures of the beautiful new family that Marty, Shannon and Ian have created!

Maiden Voyage

Given the title of this post, I think I've been working with Navy/Sea Services people for way too long!

As you can see from the description above of my brand new blog, the premise is quite simple--post some of the most beautiful things I can possibly be lucky enough to create.

There are so many beautiful things in this world, and I've been
blessed enough to see many of them. Beauty in nature, beauty in print, beauty in people--these are all things that I've come to know in my life. I've also been very blessed to have a talent for design, be it in print, web or even some small interior projects. My hope is that you will find the pieces that I share beautiful too!

For my first post I am attaching a photo that I took while walking from the parking lot into work one day not too long ago. I've named this photo Everyday Things. There I was, innocently approaching the building one day when I looked down to find this simply lying on the ground. As a person of faith (don't worry, I'm not going all Jesus Freak in these posts), I sort of found it amusing and also slightly inspirational. It's truly interesting the things you come across in everyday things.
